With over 60 years of experience in the signage industry, we’ve honed our craft. Our process is inclusive and collaborative and everyone understands the task at hand – to create impactful signage of the highest standards.

Concept & Design:

Each project begins with the customer, their sales representative, and our experienced design staff taking a seat at the table. We outline the project’s parameters and identify the desired outcome of the project. From there our team of designers work hard to bring your vision to life. We pride ourselves on our ability to look at the big picture and find a solution that incorporates both the clients branding and the building’s existing environment, as well as being well-versed in understanding complex landlord and signage regulations. We provide our clients with professional signage renderings that superimpose the design on digital photos, along with technical details regarding the fabrication and installation of the proposed sign. This gives you a great idea of what your sign will ultimately look like once installed, and provides the necessary technical information that would be required by city engineers and landlords.

Survey & Permit Acquisition:

This critical step along the way involves a complete detailed survey of each site to ensure the proposed signage will be of proper and appropriate scale to the site. This step also takes into account how the signage will be mounted upon installation, identifies any potential installation or finishing issues, evaluates adequacy of building support, and determines all electrical requirements for the sign.

At National Neon we have successfully obtained thousands of permits for our signs across Canada. City Planning Departments insist that the customer is responsible for obtaining permits for signage systems. In order to help expedite the permit acquisition procedure, we’re more than happy to provide the customer with all the necessary signage related documents required by local building departments including: structural design for signage systems and supporting foundations, mechanical design, and elevation drawings. While some customers choose to apply for signage permits on their own, the majority find it to be a very arduous task, and are happy to leave this step with us.

Next comes the step where we roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty. From our CSA certified manufacturing plant in Calgary, every component of your sign will be fabricated in-house. Whether it’s welding, sheet metal, electrical or our professional automotive grade paint booth – we’re constantly investing in new machinery to ensure efficient fabrication, resulting in competitive pricing and a quality product. Working in sync with our automated equipment, we work hard and take pride in creating custom hand-crafted signage. While recent technologies and equipment have advanced our trade immensely you can’t underestimate the skill and craftsmanship of our experienced crew, and because all of our work is CSA approved, you can be assured of our attention to quality and safety.

Digital Printing & Graphics:

Our graphics department is one of the last steps in the manufacturing process. This is where it all comes together and you’ll start to see the final product. Our highly skilled and experienced graphics team uses a variety of sophisticated tools and printers including computerized routers, vinyl plotters, and laminators to ensure an accurate reproduction of your logo and colours. We’ve also recently invested in a state-of-the-art UV hybrid printer made by AGFA that allows us to increase efficiency and speed up turnaround time, while at the same time dramatically improving the quality of our finished product.

Installation & Service:

For installation and service work, we have a comprehensive fleet of vehicles ranging from large cranes, boom trucks, and service vans. We also have access to other equipment like scaffolding and swing stages – whatever the job requires, we have the experience and resources to handle it. Our crews have extensive training and decades of experience. They’ve truly have seen it all and have the know-how to troubleshoot anything that might arise on-location. In addition, our service crews are fully-equipped and stoked with the most common signage parts in order to provide efficient maintenance of our customer's signs.

While we typically service our immediate area – Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan, for projects that are outside our neck-of-the-woods we have developed relationships with quality installation and service companies across Canada, that will work on our behalf to complete the job
